BACKGROUND CHECKS
We want to get to know the real you. Your experience, your achievements, and what makes you tick.
If you’re uploading a CV, make sure it’s clear, concise and correct. Typos and spelling slips can distract from your story, so give it a final look over. Tailor your CV to the role you’re applying for, and bring your most relevant experience to the forefront. Your proudest achievements deserve the spotlight.
Prefer to share your LinkedIn profile instead? That works too.
There’s no need to include a cover letter, we’ll get to know you better through the process. And if the role calls for it, have copies of your qualifications or portfolio ready to attach.
One of our recruiters will review your application first, no AI involved. They’ll then share the strongest matches with the hiring manager. You might have a telephone discussion with a recruiter between these steps or after both reviews.
Before your interview
Find a quiet spot and make sure your phone’s fully charged.
What to expect
We’ll chat about your experience, what you enjoy, and how you’d make an impact at JLR. We might ask a couple of role-related questions and confirm a few details about your current situation.
Your turn
This is your chance to ask us anything about the role, the team, or life at JLR. After all, it’s as much about you choosing us as us choosing you.
Your invitation email will tell you everything you need to know about the day. Including the type of interview you’ll be having, if it will include one or two-rounds and if it will be face to face or via teams. We’ll also let you know what to bring if in person, so you can arrive prepared and confident. Plan your journey with time to spare, and bring your best self.
The three types of interviews we use are:
Behavioural interview
Everyone will have one of these. It’s designed to explore how you demonstrate JLR’s core behaviours; our Creators’ Code. When answering, set the scene clearly. Share what you did, how you did it, and what happened as a result. Show us how you solved a problem, improved a situation, or learned something valuable along the way.
Competency-based interview
This one’s all about your technical knowledge and skills. We’ll explore how your expertise aligns with the role, and how you apply it in real-world scenarios.
Presentation
If you’re asked to present, we’ll give you a topic in advance (usually five working days). Use that time wisely to gather reliable insights and craft a presentation that’s both engaging and informative. Stick to the brief, and draw on your own experience wherever you can.
If you require any reasonable adjustments to support you during the interview process, just let your recruiter know. We’re here to help you feel confident and at your best.
Once all interviews are complete, the hiring manager decides who to offer the role to.
Behind the scenes
We’ll run a few internal checks and get the necessary approvals before we can share the good news.
The offer
First, you’ll get a verbal offer. Then we’ll follow up with a formal written offer that includes all the details.
If you accept an offer, we’ll need to complete some background checks.
How it works
We use a trusted partner for this. You’ll log in to their platform and provide the details we need.
What’s included
Checks always include your right to work, unless we’re helping you obtain it.
